MILAN, Jan 17, 2005/ FW/ --- Pringle is definitely innovative by not only giving us a slanted runway, but also by throwing in a live bag pipe player along with a snare drum rocker.
It is something about burly men in skirts beating on a snare drum and blowing through a pipe that starts my week off right.
Pringle’s autumn/winter 2005-2006 collection has many high points. Great colors with depth gave Scottish plaids warmness in burgundy, heather grays and black.
The use of more vibrant oranges and greens were great combinations seen with thick cord blazers and high turtle neck jumpers.
One of the most notable items which are sure to be a quick catch on trend for men will be the hooded blazer. Pringle presented these hooded blazers in muted earth tones.
The effect for next winter will be about layering. Argyle sweaters will be atop oxford shirts in rich dual shades. Duffel coats, quilted and bomber jackets will finish the layered look. The use of cowhide was random for the collection, but these coats could stand on their own.
An art deco blue multi-pocketed utility coat is a significant piece within the collection. Cashmere corduroy trousers and darker accents will off set the vivid color of their jumpers. Slim trousers with thin cords will be styled with tailored blazers.
Traditionally, Pringle showcased the kilt, but in its new form. This new kilt skirt has unfinished edges and in a wrinkled cotton material. Coming in solid colors with an over coat, Pringle has renovated the conventional use this Scottish garment.
Stockdale has brought traditional Scottish customs and dress to everyday Western life with this Gold label collection.
