LONDON, Sep 24, 2003/ FW/ --- Pringle of Scotland showed a spring summer 2004 women’s range
that fit perfectly into the primary themes emerging from the London catwalks this week;
pretty and patterned.
While not forgetting the brand’s signature rhombus Argyle checks, designer Stuart Stockdale
did not necessarily concentrate on them, although did in some instances stylise the look
into a graphically lighter pattern used for dresses and skirts.
Knit, as the brand is famous for, came often in bright colours including fluorescent pink
as a reminder of the recent men’s collection shown in Milan earlier this year along with
the clean-cut refined college style tunics worn with pullovers and cardigans that make
for ‘good English breeding’.
A collection that was soft and comfortable for weekends or weekday dinners, from the
tailored jacket, wide pants, not too short shorts and elegant flowing skirts matched
with light camisoles.
Dresses hinted at a 1930’s influence, patterned and sparkling in the light with waistlines
moved towards the hips and defined by a thin band or ribbon.
Lightness and slight uses of transparency aided Stockdale’s search towards creating a
feminine and classic sexy collection, not disappointing the crowd as he mixed the
traditional with the trends of today, both subtle and obvious.
