MILAN, Jun 28, 2006/ FW/ --- One of the biggest challenges when presenting the latest collection of menswear is being able to highlight the innovations done for the season. As a solution to that dilemma, Pringle of Scotland designer Clare Waight Keller opted for the intimate atmosphere of a presentation.
For Spring 2007, Waight Keller continues Pringle of Scotland’s heritage of luxury and innovation with the new 12 and 18 gauge fine knits that are perfect weights for spring and summer.
Waight Keller, who is passionate about knitwear and learned knitting at the age of 5 from her mother, combined the purest yarns of cashmere, linen, silk and hemp to create this new fabric.
And with the 12 and 18 gauge fine knits as base material, Waight Keller then created relaxed cotton-silk knitted polo shirts, raw silk cable knit V-neck sweaters and jerseys. Details and finishes include exposed seams and epaulets, and contrasting colors of cuffs and necklines.
Inspired by the 1960s and 1970s British interior design superstar David Hicks, Waight Keller, like her muse built a bridge connecting the formal classical styles of the past to the current modern style of today.
The classic British three-piece suits and single or double-breasted jackets and waistcoats were constructed in cool linens and fine wools. The silhouettes are harmonious mix of classical and contemporary pieces, raising Pringle of Scotland into a cool and hip label that attracts young gentlemen, while still catering to the baby boomers.
Trousers are relaxed, some of them featuring double pleats in front. And new this season are the smart luxury denims in white or pale grey featuring a washed silk back logo bearing the Scottish soltaire flag.
And Waight Keller did not miss a single beat, proposing roomy totes, silk ties and a range of shoes created in collaboration with Harry’s of London for accessories.
