The Richest Swimwear Out There

Dec 8, 2002/ FWD/ --- Susan Elizabeth Hubbard's swimwear line seems more suited for taking
a splash than a swim, given the intricacies of each piece -- and the designer makes no
apologies for her decadent designs.
After all, the 26-year-old former head designer at Jill Stuart, designed the line out of
a love of traveling to sandy destinations and an appreciation for the lavish life.
At her launch party at deCollage this week, Susan said, "I wanted the detailing and the
attention that is put into a clothing line to be used in the collection. Of course I don't
want them to be sleazy and picked up by strippers -- but they are adventurous."
She said the bikinis and one-pieces are all very different, yet with one thing in common --
opulence.
Some have ribbon fastening, gold and silver hardware, ostrich feathers, strapping, embroidery
and lace.
The line is obviously inspired by luxe lingerie; it has the same rich and indulgent look of
a La Perla or Frost French set, and demands an equally lithe physique to pull it off to
perfection.
The Susan Elizabeth line appears to be perfectly at home at New York's deCollage, where
it will be available in early January.
At $240-$550 a pop, a Susan Elizabeth might be something to be kept out of chlorine filled
pools and salty seas -- but you'll be the hottest thing on the sidelines.
Susan Elizabeth is available at deCollage, 23 Eighth Avenue, NYC.
