NEW YORK, Nov 6, 2002/ FW/ --- One of the great things about attending debut collections
during fashion week is the discovery of a new talent whom you see a lot of potential.
Such was the case during the Spring 2003 show for Taiza held last September in New York.
Cuban-born Osmany R. Laffita debuted his Taiza label at 7th on Sixth. He is not new to the
U.S. runways though.
He showed during Miami's Fashion Week of the Americas on March 2002 where Vogue Espanol bestowed
him an honor by giving him the "Designer's Choice" Award.
Seeing his Spring 2003 collection, Vogue Espanol was right!
There is an inherent sexiness in Laffita's style.
You might call it the Havana-heat if you may, but you have to consider that the designer
is also based in Prague, which is not really known for "sexy" and "full-on sexuality."
Laffita was able to strike a correct balance between heat and sexiness without being vulgar.
And that's where Laffita's talent lies.
He showed a very eclectic collection - from daywear to evening wear, from club-get up to
wedding parties.
And it just oozed heat from the moment the first model walked on the runway.
The collection is geared for a very young crowd wherein it was also a very lucky break for
the designers.
Generation Y has chosen to start dressing up!
The proof is in fine restaurants all over the nation catering to a young clientele - Generation
Y is 'dressed to kill' to use an old cliche.
Taiza is definitely a name to watch and pretty soon Generation Y will discover this young Cuban-born
talent who is based in Prague.
