NEW YORK, Sep 17, 2005/ FW/ --- The crowd who lined up for the Tracy Reese show was a harbinger for the show – lots of supporters and fans of the designer who cannot wait to see her latest collection.
Inside, The Plaza was at full capacity, all seats were taken and there was barely enough room for standing. So, when the house lights dimmed and the only illumination was from the huge chandelier that served as prop and backdrop, there was a hush of anticipation.
And, Tracy Reese did not disappoint her audience, as she sent 30 memorable looks that just take your breath away.
Divided into three sections named, ‘Fondant,’ ‘Filigree’ and ‘Frolic, Tracy Reese captured the elegance of Belle Époque and 1920s New Orleans as promised in her press notes.
Using luxe fabrics such as lace, brocade and silk, Tracy Reese filled the runway with dainty, beautiful and simply gorgeous creations that prodded the audience to applause as each model pass by.
The theme alone is a giveaway that French aesthetics will dominate the collection. After all, New Orleans was the bastion of the French Empire in the Americas during the colonial period.
True to her muse, Tracy Reese showed the grandeur of the era, while creating silhouettes for today’s women.
The details were impeccable, and instead of being heavy, they have a light, breezy feel, once again proving that Tracy Reese can cut, drape and sew – talents needed to become a good designer.
Coming out to take her bow, the New York-based designer was greeted by a warm and deafening applause.
