NEW YORK, Feb 11, 2006/ FW/ --- Inspired by the stylish film noir, ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley,’ Vera Wang’s 54-piece collection showcased her design talents and modern aesthetics proving once again why she is one of the most highly sought after designers in the U.S.

Following the trend widely seen at Bryant Park for neutral color tones, the designer used various shades of black and white as inspired from Mark Rothko with a splash of navy, blue metallic, fuchsia, and pistachio just to name a few.

Vera Wang’s very simple yet elegant, sophisticated and glamorous pieces did not miss the point. As a matter of fact, she hits the nail right on the head with this very 50’s postwar period inspired collection, with that modern and very today feel.

The pieces were structured in wools, tweeds, and felt all designed with high waist and the use of belt on most everything but also carefully combined with lingerie like dresses such as slips, shift, sack, and trapeze in gabardines, wool checks, charmeuses and printed silks both for day and night.

Vera Wang also used rough and extravagant corsages of felt, wool, taffeta and tulle carefully placing them on one side of the shoulder, waist, and back or on one side of the hemline (cut in an asymmetrical style).

Other fine details the designer used was ruching, draping, ruffles, tiny rhinestone pave buttons, fringe embroidery as well as tulle neck ruffle giving that very soft seductive look and garter belts in all fabrics from elastic to wools, silks, brocades and demure velvets.

You also can’t go wrong with her cardigan-coat with a self belt, the wool felt pea coat in wool as well as the iris mink wrap or the velvet trench in iridescent bronze, that can all be worn to keep you warm without taking away, instead adding even more style and glamour to any of the pieces Vera Wang presented for her Fall 2006 collection.
