NEW YORK, Sep 14, 2004/ FW/ --- Well-known as a bridal gown designer, Vera Wang’s pręt-a-porter line is proving to be another strong point of the New York-based designer.
With Holly Hunter and Jennifer Connelly sitting at the front row, Vera Wang sent luxe apparel that will surely catch the eyes of both retail buyers and, later on, when it hits the stores, the discerning eye of the consumers.
Below the knee flared skirts draped perfectly on the model’s body, ethereal gowns for red carpet appearances, and body-hugging pencil skirts all say – “Look at me! I’m gorgeous.”
Not forgetting the twenty-something generation, Vera Wang re-invented the twin sets with her short-cropped jacket cum blouse embellished with a bow and matched with layered skirts.
There is also the asymmetrical meshed halter-top finished off with ruffles and paired with stovepipe pants.
And the most eye-catching, in this series of chic clothes is the white spaghetti strap with scallop stripes on the bodice and intersecting diagonal stripes on the skirts.
A very eclectic color palette was combined with a very eclectic choice of fabric resulting to a collection of diverse looks.
This proves Vera Wang’s mettle as a designer, because although the outfits can be anywhere in the spectrum, the whole collection still gelled and actually made sense.
