Model Madness Hits ABC
By Jenny Bailly
NEW YORK, Nov 15, 2001/ --- Victoria's Secret models are taking over ABC. As reported last month,
for the first time ever, a one-hour special titled "The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show," will
air on the network this Thursday at 9pm. The live version went on at Bryant Park last Nov 13
at 7.
That, however, will be the culmination of a week of model-centric programming. Nov 13
episode of "Spin City" will feature a bevy of the beauties, as the sitcom's lascivious cast
vies for tickets to the fashion show. Rhea Durham will play an old childhood friend of Richard
Kind's bumbling character. This isn't the first time a Victoria's Secret vixen has appeared
on the show though; Heidi Klum once landed a recurring role as Michael J. Fox's love interest.
Thursday evening before the main event, models Bridget Hall, Molly Sims, Eva Herzigova,
Heidi Klum and Veronica Webb will be among the eight stunners competing for charity on
"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Two more episodes of the supermodel edition will air next
Monday, November 19, and Thursday, November 22.
The pressure isn't too high though, since each is guaranteed to take home $32,000 for her
chosen charity, an array that ranges from the Uniformed Firefighters' Association Widows'
and Children's Fund to Doctor's without Borders.
Those tuning in to giggle at a series of gaffes by bombshells with a lot more beauty than
brains might be disappointed though. Molly Sims was a law student at Vanderbilt University
before she broke into the world of modeling, Herzigova speaks four languages and Webb is
an editor and columnist for Paper and Interview magazines and has penned an autobiography.
ABC's morning shows are also jumping on the lingerie lovelies' bandwagon on Thursday.
"Good Morning America" will feature a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show preview with the models
featured in the Millionaire telecast.
"The View" will host Tyra Banks as she showcases some Victoria's Secret fashion during its
"Out of the Closet" segment.
