NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2004/ FW/ – Earth, wind, fire and water; the four elements of the universe merge to create balance and harmony for the Y&Kei summer 2005 collection.
Opposing elements compete to compliment the female silhouette in a light happy and reflective palette. Their woman is pretty, elegant and divinely centered as she dresses in aerial chiffons and washed linens that are flowing, knotted, draped and fluid.
As tranquil mornings sparkle with soft silver the mackintosh is re-invented and softened for their delicate female audience while lace, silk and embroidery dance and dropped-waist dresses elongate the torso.
One of the keys to their success lies in Asian touches combined with western design sensibility. Age-old tradition layered with pride and modesty turns romance into mystery giving the perfect mix of femininity and sensuality.
Fabric piecing is formed into exotic peacock motifs on jackets and exquisite dresses. Backless tops and super thin spaghetti straps emphasize corporeal delicates of the female body and soft long evening dresses ballet in the wind transforming her into celestial goddess.
Like part of the moon cycle, Y&Kei hint at perfection and still manage to leave the imagination free to wander and dream of angels.
