NEW YORK, Sep 11, 2005/ FW / – A self assured, relaxed and comfortable woman that catches the eye of everyone in a filled room as she walks gracefully, unaware and unaffected is the woman of Y & Kei for Spring 2006.
As said on their press notes, “Y & Kei are in a romantic mood. Having researched the world for the finest fabrics from silk shantung, silk chiffon printed with varying sizes of polka dots, linens that are starched and treated to give them a couture hand, hand embroideries with rustic touches as well as pailettes embroidered on the chiffon, the materials define the shapes of the garments”.
And that they deliver, giving gracefulness that is both comfortable and elegant with polka dots that plays peek-a-boo behind a black chiffon sunburst pleats or shimmering gold under a navy blue dress gives an element of surprise of fabric movement to reveal the unexpected.
Couture and well defined details of hand embroidery, graphic outlines on dresses, gowns, skirts and jackets. Using handmade patchwork, circular pieces sewn together by hand creating a dress of multi-colored linen, hand beading, bugle beads and nailheads placed on borders, collars, and straps.
Showing 36 exits in all, the audience just could not get enough of Y & Kei.
Standouts include the gold polka dot chiffon empire gown, the sand hand embroidered linen gown, the navy chiffon dress with gold polka dot underlay and gold beaded borders, the black glazed linen jacket with polka dot belt worn over a white cotton shirt, black chiffon sunburst pleated godet skirt with polka dot illusion and the black-ivory silk mini dot hand embroidered gown with black sunburst pleated chiffon gores.
Y & Kei simply nailed it for this Spring 2006 collection, as always!
