NEW YORK, Feb 19, 2003/ FW/ --- Winners of the Fashion Group International's Rising Star Award for 2003, Y&Kei is relatively a newcomer in the New York fashion scene.

Husband and wife design team Han-hee Yoon and Jin-young Kang opened the first Y&Kei store in Soho during the fall of 2001.

A little bit of punk, a little bit of avant-garde and a generous dash of femininity, the "Water&Earth" collections they have designed for the American market is "less about trends but more designer and unique".

Known for their masterful tailoring techniques, Han-hee Yoon and Jin-young Kang also do a lot of experimentation with fabric.

Using draping and ruching techniques, sheer fabric are given dimension, while heavier fabrics such as denim looks lightweight with the way it is draped.

Y&Kei made their debut at the tents in Bryant Park during the Fall 2002 season. They divide their time between New York and Korea, their homeland where they run two successful clothing lines.

They won Fashion Group International Rising Star Award in 2003.
