NEW YORK, Sep 15, 2006/ FW/ --- Unveiling 40 luscious looks last Wednesday, husband and wife Hanaii Y and Gene Kang, the dynamic duo behind the label Y&Kei propose very soft washes of white and pink for Spring / Summer 2007.
Though sorbet shades dominated the collection, Hanaii Y and Gene Kang added blueberry, silver and basic black as color highlights giving spontaneity in the collection.
Using luxe fabrics of chiffon, taffeta, silk, faille, linen, organza and charmeuse, Y&Kei created dresses in varying hemline lengths, relaxed-fit trousers, cropped pants and shorts for day and romantic cocktail dresses and gowns for evening.
Embellishments are restraint yet elaborate. Pleats, embroidery, ruffles, lace appliqué and sequins were used as details as the Korean born designers gave a nod to the trend widely seen at Bryant Park this fashion week.
With most of the designers at Bryant Park seemingly wanting to bring back the 1950, 1960 and the 1970’s era, Hanaii Y and Gene Kang did not miss a beat as they brought forward their holistic vision of fashion.
Meant for the young and the young-at-heart, this fresh and very coherent collection is meant to be enjoyed and worn with subtle sexiness and sensuality.
