NEW YORK, Sep 28, 2002/ FW/ --- Entering his 13th year in the fashion business,
New York-based designer Zang Toi stays true to his luxurious design philosophy, with
a generous dash of romance thrown into it for his Spring 2003 collection.
Inspired by the romantic rose gardens of the lush Cotswold English countryside and the
seductive fragrances and old-world beauty of David Austin's English Roses, it was
a romantic, yet dangerously seductive collection.
Starting with the proverbial "girl on a swing," the stage opened with rose petals on the runway,
and a bare-chested male model who is supposed to be the gardener.
And from there, it was signature Zang Toi - a little bit of fun, a little bit of
naughtiness and lots of luxurious clothes, whether you are the gardener or the lady of the manor.
Using pink and sorbet green as the basic color palette, the designer sent gowns,
cropped jeans, pant sets and coats.
Zang Toi even included "working" jump suits for the "gardener" who was really more for
eye candy to the vastly female audience.
Though the clothes might be a little bit too expensive for a prom dress, some of the gowns
shown will look great in a lot of high school seniors this Spring during the prom season.
Zang Toi might have not designed the gowns for the Class of 2003, but he surely extended
his target audience to the Internet Generation in this collection.
It's not only the Class of 2003 who can benefit from this collection.
The brides-to-be in June can add several pieces for their trousseau to add romance to
her honeymoon.
And that is one of Zang Toi's great strength and one of the reasons why he has been so
successful for the past thirteen years.
He has the innate ability to appeal to a wide audience for his clothes in
just one collection.
Immediately after the show, Zang Toi and his guests celebrated his 13th
year in business with a champagne reception at the beautiful Wallace Hall venue where he
held his show.
