Zang Toi DALLAS, Apr 20, 2007/ FW/ --- Malaysian-born designer Zang Toi will present a capsule fashion show in honor of HRH The Sultan of Kelantan and HRH The Raja Perempuan of Kelantan at the United Nations during the gala dinner for the launch of the Malaysia-Kelantan Food Festival in New York.

Hosted by the Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations, the dinner is expected to be a regal evening wherein the members of Malaysia’s royal family will grace the proceedings and visit with the Malaysian community in the U.S. and New York’s social set.

Zang Toi, who received his knighthood from the Sultan of Kelantan on March 30, 1997 with the title, Bentara Seri Kelantan (similar to the OBE granted by the Queen of England), feels it is a privilege to show a capsule collection in the honor of the Sultan.

‘I was born and raised in Kelantan. An invitation from the Sultan of Kelantan for a native like me is similar to the honor and excitement an Englishman will feel upon being invited by the Queen of England,’ Zang Toi told FashionWindows in a phone interview.

And for the New York-based designer, the privilege has been extended to a private audience with the royal family. During the Sultan’s stay in New York, Zang To will also host a private dinner in honor of the Kelantan monarch.
