Rosa Cha, Triton, and Zoomp: The Latest from Brazil
By Armand Limnander

Jul 21, 2002/ FWD/ --- Rosa Chá is fast becoming one of the most sought-after swimwear labels in the world - and that pace is sure to be quickened after today's seemingly endless procession of infuriatingly beautiful boys and girls wearing only a few inches of strategically cut lycra.

Mindful of the fact that most of their customers would probably need special grooming in order to wear some of the more revealing swimsuits, the Rosa Chá folks included a do-it-yourself Brazilian waxing kit with their show invitation.

Models slithered past a gigantic water cascade in every possible variety of maillot-from a 50s-throwback high-waist two-piece, to lingerie-inspired bikini tops slashed to reveal hidden layers that act as waterproof brassieres.

The real eye-popper, however, was the perverse white-gold-medallions-sprinkled-with-blue-diamonds thong bikini that Adriana Lima wore.

Swimwear fetishists of ample means are encouraged to place their special requests now.

For those who'd like a customized bathing suit without spending upwards of five figures, Rosa Chá designer Armin Slama offered a more reasonable option.

For the show finale, models wore suits printed with photos of themselves; customers will be able to order their own at the boutique in a few months.

While Rosa Chá defied the limits of propriety, the girls at Triton, Tufi Duek's junior line, which was recently picked up by Nordstrom and Bergdorf Goodman, took a ride on a psychedelic soul train.

Their dazzling paisley jeans, rainbow glitter tees, and billowy batwing tops could be just the thing for a good night out at the teen club.

Zoomp, one of Brazil's better-known brands, went preppy with a twist.

Drop-waist, 30s-inspired shift dresses, pinstriped mini-suits and wide-legged trousers with oversize cuffs all looked sexy but perfectly correct, especially when accessorized with grosgrain belts.

Zoomp provided a great wardrobe for country club girls who want a secret life-and large cutouts on the backs of their otherwise proper button-downs.
