NEW YORK, Feb 12, 2002/ FW/ --- If you think Alice Roi only know kitsch, think again!
Her Fall 2002 collection is all about clean, polished look.
But, don't think for a moment that she has forgotten the downtown look, because
she has not.
The designer just showed another facet of creativity.
"It's all about the Park Avenue princess," explained Alice Roi, backstage at her fall 2002
collection. "Ever since last season, clean, polished looks just seemed right."
So, the designer sent her models wearing headresses that looked like embroidered butterflies.
Created by Eugenia Kim for the show, the white caps are made of lace elephant ears.
But the real star of the show are clothes!
Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! are the three words to describe them.
Box-pleated camisoles, boxy fisherman sweaters, printed chiffon blouses and ivory
silk twin-sets, paired with knee-length pleated skirts.
And don't forget the shoes - Ferragamo flats and low heels worthy of any Junior Leaguer.
The attention to details that the designer gave the clothes are just beyond description.
Crisp box pleats, buttons and buttonholes just perfect, edging and piping to give a finish
look.
Crocheted knits and boleros remind you of the baby boomer generation.
Finally, the net generation and their baby boomer parents has something in common in
fashion!
Thanks to Alice Roi, that is one generation gap that could be bridged this season.
One last word - fantastic collection!
