Alice Roi Spring 2006: Soho Meets Paris
New York Fashion Week Spring 2006
By Heide Winkenwerder
NEW YORK, Sep 17, 2005/ FW/ --- Giving a nod to the European aesthetics that swept the New York Spring 2006 season, Alice Roi revisited 1960s Paris and transformed the silhouettes into contemporary looks that both downtown and uptown crowds will love.
And keeping within the trend of using neutral colors this season; Alice Roi opted for beige, black and white with splashes of red and blue just to liven things up.
Pleated baby doll dresses; wide legged pants with wide belts, strapless ruffled blouses that reach the thighs will surely catch your eyes.
Still, it was the ‘simplest’ cuts that stood out - sleeveless A-line dresses in black and in beige embellished at the hemline, emphasizing the legs that will surely find their way in a woman’s wardrobe.
Alice Roi, who has degrees in Art History and Fashion Design, surely did her research when she designed this collection.
Everything is true to the era, while she added her own interpretation, making the shapes attuned to our times.
Going from strength to strength season after season, Alice Roi has graduated from 'name to watch'
in the New York fashion scene. She has become part of the established designers whose show is a ‘must-see’ every season.
