Anand Jon's Urban-Tech Chic
By Jeannette Park
NEW YORK, Feb 25, 2003/ FWD/ --- Anand Jon once again fused classic Asian influences with
an urban technological feel for his fall 2003 collection Wednesday.
Models sported crimped hair and smoky black eyes to elicit the edginess that the 28-year-old
designer tried to juxtapose with soft, billowy fabrics.
A barely-there top was hung on with thin strings and criss-crossed in the front and back.
Paired with a bead encrusted lavender skirt and a large hematite necklace, the look evoked
an exotic feel that brought attendees to the sands of a Caribbean beach.
A multi-colored blazer lent a bit of conservative softness when worn only with a chocolate
leather micro mini skirt, and a black leather halter dress smoldered on the runway.
One muted crimson ensemble combined Anand Jon's love for fine fabrics - a rich leather tube
top under a long-sleeved silk button down was completed with sheer wide-leg pants embroidered
with gold threads.
Punk looks were also evident in Anand Jon's collection, using black, gauze-like fabrics for
bandeau tops but worn with ballerina-style tutu skirts made from the same material
accented with red beading.
Emphasizing sexy and chic for his evening looks, the designer matched a high-necked tank
that was shortly cropped with a beaded skirt that hugged every curve.
