NEW YORK, Feb 10, 2006/ FW/ --- It was déjà vu for Fall 2006 at Anna Sui’s with Naomi Campbell opening and closing the show, print on print along with some stripes and solids that all seems to translate to her usual little house on the prairie look, this timei interspersed with a glamorous metro girl effect.

For the opening number, Naomi Campbell wore a silky black blouse with check like print, baby collar and cuffs worn with a pleated skirt looking like she is well on her way to school setting the tone for the entire collection.

With the skirts worn relaxed just above the hip and at times worn high waisted, while the dresses were mainly designed with an empire cut at times with a velvet ribbon and other adornment keeping it busy, as well as pageboy pants worn with ruffled shirts looking cute as ever.

Ana Sui also highlighted a number of coats that will certainly keep you warm. One with fur trim and another knit number in a combination of red/black/white wool yarn.

Showing various handbags made from some of the same fabrics used in some of her pieces were also highlighted as well as a carry on luggage for the traveling type.

Everything worked like clockwork, including Naomi Campbell closing the show in a white baby collar shirt under a black jumper encrusted with Swarovski crystal in its sunburst icing origami fold.

With emphasis on ‘worked like clockwork,’ Anna Sui shows for the past several seasons had become predictable with very little or no innovations shown at all. And that is truly sad because Anna Sui still remains one of the most sought after designer in the New York fashion scene.

Because after seeing the ‘little house on the prairie’ theme for the nth time, and the Wild Wild West look with cowboy boots and Native American prints, it already becomes repetitive.

To be fair, Anna Sui is catering to her niche market that seems not to be able to get enough of the Wild West and prairie looks. But we all know that Anna Sui is capable of more than rehashing her signature look season after season.

And hopefully, when Spring 2007 rolls around, we will be seeing other things from Anna Sui.
