NEW YORK, Feb 5, 2006/ FW/ --- Keeping a low profile for several seasons, Badgley Mischka is back in Bryant Park showing their Fall 2006 collection to an SRO crowd at the tent tonight.

And though they have been away from the fashionistas eyes for sometime, their popularity has not wavered nor diminished. In fact, everyone was highly expectant, settled on their seats reading the press notes that mentioned a total of 42 looks would be presented.

The award-winning design duo kept their promise, opening with a royal/bronze taffeta dress with an Elizabethan collar with stick figure prints that immediately garnered applause from the audience.

Known for their sumptuous eveningwear, Badgley Mischka dressed their ladies after dark, making sure that they look their best for those holiday parties and red carpet affairs.

The silhouettes are slim, and the shoulders were emphasized as spaghetti straps and strapless gowns kept on coming.

To keep the ladies warm, Badgley Mischka relied on fur, from mink coats to artic fox jackets, and an onyx satin trench embedded with Swarovski crystals to the shape of a skull as part of their finale gold tulle harvest gown.

Balloon skirts rolled at the hem, accordion pleats, tiny ruffles and big bows added volume and texture.

And of course, Badley Mischka’s famous beadwork also made its appearance, this time sparingly used to make them more precious. Used as highlights in most of the gowns, the beadwork and appliqués worked as trims and enhancements, emphasizing the woman’s figure as they were all strategically placed.

Everything was lovely, and very hard to choose a favorite. Let’s just say that a woman cannot go wrong in choosing any of the 42 pieces shown.
