Ben de Lisi: Full of Class & Dignity
LONDON, Feb 15, 2005/ FW/ --- Gold glitz and shimmering shining dresses opened for Ben De Lisi’s Autumn/Winter 2005-2006 show…
These gold frocks of rich colour set the standard for the collection which was more fitting for a Tahitian spring rather than a British winter. Ben De Lisi has decided to brighten up night life with a mixture of colours for next winter by using sunny blues, screaming reds and shimmering metallic golds…
Sticking to his trademark of gorgeous dresses, he showed mostly floor and ankle length pieces. Only a few separate skirts were styled with mature turtle necks. These skirts, which fell right below the knee, were still intricately detailed with beading and elegant motifs.
A key element to his collection is belting which was seen numerous times throughout the show. From cord to great ribbon and front roughing showed dynamic lines in dresses as well as his staying true to his feminine womanly silhouette.
Although the collection was mostly fitting for a mild spring, three fur coats in black and grey were shown with black velvet belting. An artistic show stopper was the blue, yellow and black slip dresses that were very vibrant in colour and looked great on sun kissed models.
Many black silhouettes fitting for an Oscar’s night were seen with gold ornamentation and again belting details. The show proceeded to showing more floral chiffons in the most delightful mixtures of fuscia, love rose and lipstick pink. The show concluded with a dynamic deep cut front V line dress that literally flowed down the runway with chiffon loose straps at the model’s sides.
This collection was full of class and dignity with no extra frills or thrills, but just Classic Ben De Lisi style….
