NEW YORK, Sep 14, 2006/ FW/ --- Young, sweet and cute, are the adjectives that best describe Betsey Johnson’s 57 looks for Spring / Summer 2007 shown this week at Bryant Park.
Betsy Johnson’s exuberance is certainly in the air with this upbeat show and more so this time around than in season’s past with the coming her granddaughter Layla, her show is appropriately entitled “Baby Cakes”.
Fun and full of excitement is how her pieces translate as they come down the runway with baby doll ruffled dresses, in white and pastels just like cotton candy.
Adding her share of polka dots as well as checks to mix things up as she presented a very 40’s and 50’s inspired collection, Spring 2007 is also a continuation of her Fall 2006 collection wherein she paid tribute to Marilyn Monroe.
She used very soft fabrics in organdy, lace, chiffon, crepe, silk and satin just to name a few, presented in a bubble shirt dress to a silk school girl dress; the red polka dot swimsuit worthy of Marilyn Monroe to an embroidered polka dot dress as well as an eyelet printed dress or a canvas jumpsuit.
So if you’re about having fun and being fun, then getting a Betsey Johnson or being in one of the pieces from her Spring/Summer 2007 collection just might be the thing you’re looking for. But you’ll simply have to be patient and wait until it hits the store this coming spring!
