Tryst at the Rose Garden

On a runway strewn with roses, one could not help but think of the romantic English rose
gardens. Setting that mood for the audience, Betty Jackson presented a contemporary
romantic show straight from Mills & Boon and Barbara Cartland.
Soft colors of beige and green, with splashes of red and black, the Betty Jackson Fall 2001
collection is classic Betty Jackson. Unstructured, fluid and feminine plus harder leather
accessories.
She stayed away from the military look which is expected, for Betty Jackson never follow
trends. She creates her own, drawing inspiration from her own life and design philosophy.
So, this season, she presented soft layered chiffons in black, camel, raspberry and lime
accessorized by leather belts and gloves.
Leather and fur coats, fur stoles and pashima made up the outerwear, protecting the wearer
from the cold while strolling in the garden.
Skirts that are either just above the knee or below the knee dominated the collection, with
onesies and twosies of ankle-length dresses or mini-skirts. Betty Jackson did not make
any statement on the length of the skirt. The statement she made - romance is back!
