"Glamour," "drama," and "sirens" were the words floating around behind the scenes of the
Bob Mackie Fall/Winter 2001 collection.
Two hours before the show, Bobbi Brown makeup artists and Warren Tricomi hairstylists were
busy creating classic makeup and sleek hair to capture the elegance and extravagance of
the 40s femme fatale inspired collection.
"Foreign Intrigue," said a calm Bob Mackie of the theme.
His inspiration, he said, was "the actresses of the 40s, those international beauties who
came to America to do film."
Bobbi Brown and her team concentrated on the eyes and lips to create a natural, dewy face.
To achieve the look, models were dabbed with Brown's soon to be launched moisturizer from her
new skincare line, Bobbi Brown Extra.
Fake lashes were applied with surgical glue for Marlene Dietrich-like eyes.
And to maintain the classic image of cinema screen beauties from the 40s, the lipstick was
none other than a bright, bold red.

"We are going red, our brightest red," said Bobbi Brown.
While makeup artists were applying eyelashes, manicurists glued long red fingernails to the
models' hands.
Models sporting gloves on the runway were cautioned to take gloves off slowly.
Hair for the show was clean and pulled up for the models to wear the elaborate head pieces
made of feathers and glitter.
"Hair is sleek," said Edward Tricomi of the Warren Tricomi Salon, as he blow-dried one model's
hair stick straight and then swept it up into a traditional chignon.
Tricomi finished off the look by spraying flyaways with an array of Redken products.
Shorter hair was twisted for a sleek and simple style.
Without a doubt, the red nails, red lips and sleek updo's for Mackie's "Foreign Intrigue"
caught the attention of the audience.
