Boudicca LONDON, Sep 24, 2004/ FW/ – At a first glance the Boudicca 2005 spring summer collection may appear morbid and have little to do with gloriously luminous days and rays of sunshine, as the Zowie Broach and Brian Kirby duo put dark clothes on a black sand runway under spotlights.

Though don’t be fooled by first impressions, their deconstruction is in fact a re-birthing of outfits for an assorted wardrobe aimed at the urban wise female in a choice selection of mixing and matching, as she breaks, changes and makes new rules.

Eclectic and eccentric, between draping, angel wings, lace transparency and visible seams Boudicca’s outfits are reminiscent of what one may find in a tailors shop, as models stand unengaged and absent minded like mannequins in a corner where looks are fitted, stitched and ripped into shape.

Denim is cut and paste for trousers, skirts and jackets while buckles dangle and waistcoats are re-worked in this hard edged collection leaving structure to be ironically found in the apparent unstructured via little jackets and straight legged pants.

The duo’s ability to hammer out unruly looks makes their fashion almost carton like in the making as floral becomes a superhero’s warrior dress leaving one free to use their imagination as feathers are sword like and pleats over shoes remind us of Spanish show ponies.

Boudicca’s light is found in the freedom of self-expression and the calm amongst the havoc.
