NEW YORK, Feb 14, 2006/ FW/ --- For a label that started with minimalist aesthetics, nobody does black better than Calvin Klein; and with Francisco Costa at the design helm, he made black more alluring and sophisticated than ever.
Costa’s message for Fall 2006 – soft, fluid and relaxed where sexy is what is hidden underneath. Reveal nothing except your Mona Lisa smile and your intellect; seduction is achieved with subtlety and softness.
The 36-piece collection proved to be too short for an audience who wants everything fast and furious. In the end, they want to see more.
Because truly, how can one not desire the understated elegance of the empire-waist black chiffon embellished with chevrons, revealing only the shoulders with the thin spaghetti straps and cuffed to balloon right below the knee?
The comfy and chic look of wide legged pants paired with a cardigan and relaxed fitting tank tee captures the zeitgeist of today’s women.
And that is what Francisco Costa highlighted for Fall 2006 where luxury is understated yet felt by the wearer, where an overt display of status is frowned upon because everything is hinged on refinement and delicacy.
Amidst this parade of black – from oversized coats with sloping shoulders to snug-fitting outer jackets with big cuffs at the sleeves, moving on chiffon cocktail dresses and gowns, Francisco Costa gave everyone a shot of color – two red gowns as the finale, catching everyone by surprise!
