MILAN, Jun 28, 2003 /FW/ --- Last Wednesday, Italo Zucchelli, Calvin Klein's former assistant
stepped onto the catwalk to take his bow after presenting his first solo collection for
the maison Calvin Klein.
Zucchelli's spring summer 2004 look is simple, 'sexy and American' agressive and neat,
saying that it is still the soul of Calvin for these reasons.
Young beautiful men walked the runway stripped of excess, but as young bloods full of
testosterone.
He plays on the silhouette, thin and well cut. Classic Klein colours of sand, olive, beige,
white and natural with the use of leathers and skins in suede python ans snake.
Sexy tanks, pants slim line, and a slight hint of the cowboy through belt holster style bags.
Jackets are tailored and vests are long and double breasted. The blazer is clean and slim,
worn also with a denim jacket that makes it sexy. Pants can be shiney like bomber jackets.
Calvin Klein, who gave control of his company in February to Phillips-Van-Heusen, was not
backstage, nor front row at the show, but watched from the side standing up.
The designer, then disappeared, probably not wanting to leave declarations to the press, who are
very curious with his statement at WWD saying that he had given his design responsibilities to
Franciso Costa for womenswear and Italo Zucchelli for menswear.
When FW called up Phillips-Van Heusen, CKI's parent company, we were referred to Calvin Klein
Inc., for an official statement.
CKI declined to comment and forwarded our inquiry to Calvin Klein himself. As of press time,
there has been no official statement from either the designer, CKI or PVH.
