MILAN, Jan 20, 2007/ FW/ --- Fresh, clean and sharp, Italo Zucchelli’s Fall 2007 collection for Calvin Klein is a convergence of the old and new as he mixed traditional fabrics with high tech materials.
Take the ‘yellow slicker’ for instance. Every American kid had to wear one at one point in time at kindergarten or grade school. And of course, they outgrow it once they reach high school. But, what if there is a NEW yellow slicker meant for the grown up you?
Italo Zucchelli, whether by design or by accident did just that. A yellow leather blouson with a hood was layered with plastic on top resulting to a ‘very grown up’ yellow slicker!
Or the cardigan and golf tee that we usually associate our fathers or grandfathers with. Zuchelli gave it a very modern treatment by making the cardigan zipped and ribbed at the bottom. Combined with a golf tee, it had a very sportive and macho feel.
Suits have square shoulders and slim fitting, so do the trousers. What is interesting is that Zucchelli mixed the suit jacket with gym pants, an interesting combination to say the least and definitely redefines once again the term ‘Casual Friday.’
And if you’re wondering, ties are optional, and if they wear tie, they choose the thin variety.
