DALLAS, Nov 11, 2003 / FW/ --- With the Awards season starting early due to the date change of the Oscars, celebrity stylists are already busy visiting designer showrooms ‘shopping’ for their clients.
It will not be surprising if they have contacted Carmen Marc Valvo, the quintessential American designer and a perennial favorite of Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lucy Liu and Oprah Winfrey when it comes to red carpet dressing.
Carmen Marc Valvo who designed the “Bryant Ring,” a one-of-kind emerald cut, 10-carat diamond
ring to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 7th on Sixth, unveiled the gem last September during New York Fashion Week.
But the ring was not the only gem that was unveiled. His Spring 2004 collection is as precious as the Bryant ring itself.
Inspired by an idyllic respite spent in his own garden, Carmen Marc Valvo translated the roses and peonies into feminine and flowing garments that looked like they just came right out of a fairy tale.
The roses caressed the bodice of a hand-embroidered bustier; the hibiscus became part of flowing chiffon while the peony was etched in a python motorcycle jacket.
Dominated by eveningwear with just a sprinkling of daywear, Carmen Marc Valvo must have been thinking of the Awards season subconsciously when he was designing this collection.
The gowns are exquisite; the cocktail dresses are just resplendent. And with its varying degrees of gorgeousness, it’s easy to imagine seeing these clothes this coming Awards season.
