DALLAS, Dec 8, 2003/ FW/ --- Seeing Catherine Malandrino’s Spring 2004 collection was like traveling back in time in 19th century Paris.
But she did not use quantum physics nor billions of quantum computer chips like Michael Crichton did to travel back to 15th century France.
All Catherine Malandrino did was bring the expert craftsmanship reminiscent of the Parisian couturiers of the last century to the New York runway last September.
The silhouette is slim; the clothes are body hugging, and the gem of the collection, Swarovski crystals that were incorporated in beading in embroidery.
“Swarovski crystals bring a ray of light to the smoky atmosphere of my spring collection,” commented Catherine Malandrino.
From the floral appliqués to the asymmetrical hemlines that were both embellished with the beautiful crystals, the models sparkled as they walked the runway, bringing “rays of light” to the elegant collection.
Deep V necklines, which hinted of cleavage, old-fashioned lace that suggested a lot of skin showing, but never revealing it and cobwebs woven on the bodice – it was sensual and alluring, with a notion of sexiness smoldering underneath.
Complementing the clothes are envelope bags and strappy high heels, must have accessories for the collection.
