NEW YORK, Feb 19, 2002/ FW/ --- One this you can say about Jeff Mahsie - he always tops
himself with every new collection.
Staying true to Chaiken's trademark of simple sophisticated tailoring, Jeff Mahsie raised
that to a higher level with the Fall 2002 collection.
He made sporty clothes look sophisticated!
There was a subtle division in the collection - the sporty look and the more formal wear that
you could wear almost anywhere.
Although the clothes looked deceptively simple, the cut, detailing and tailoring make
them stand out.
Great example is the mustard yellow long coat matched with the same color pants and black
top.
The big lapel and collar made it look structured, yet draping was used to give it a
sophisticated look. The silvery belt on the generously cut pants finished the look.
Belt was the main accessory for this season, with an extra long end that made it look
like a sash from afar.
Caroline Ribeiro's pant suit looked sporty enough to wear for a walk at Central Park,
yet formal enough to be able to walk in at Four Seasons to have breakfast.
All in all, the main elements of this collection is the designer's fluency is
the feminine silhouette.
Even with the more sporty and "manly" look, Jeff Mahsie continued to emphasize the
overall femininity of the collection.
From leather to fur, there were a lot of type of fabrics that were used in the collection.
That is Jeff Mahsie's strength - infinite diversity and infinite combination.
And that is a big part of the appeal of Chaiken's Clothing.
