DALLAS, Dec 1, 2003/ FW/ --- Chaiken, who never shies away from putting black basics on the runway, did a delightful thing this season. They added color and sparkle on their Spring 2004 collection.
In a synergistic collaboration with Swarovski, the legendary Austrian purveyor of cut crystal, Chaiken brought sportswear with a sparkle to the forefront of fashion.
"Using Swarovski crystal with a sportswear sensibility adds contrast and punctuates this season's layered, graphic silhouettes. It even gives a t-shirt the glow of luxury, " quoted Jeff Mahshie of Chaiken.
Chaiken’s signature sportswear was encrusted with Swarovski crystal in shades of pink, blue and gold.
The result – a scrumptious collection of tank tops, camisoles and tees in new mod shapes full of color.
The look of sportswear was elegantly translated into a modern look for evening with an urban edge with halter dresses accentuated with crystal detailing.
Add to that, the sexy swimsuits, stovepipe pants and thigh-length spring coats, and what you have is a complete wardrobe for today’s urban women.
Julie Chaiken and Jeff Mahshie have made their statement – Glamour is back this spring, and sportswear is resplendent with color.
Something of note this season from Chaiken: the clear plastic handbags which are perfect for the beach.
