Mar 13, 2002/ FWD/ --- This season, Christian Lacroix sent out a mélange of Spanish, rococo,
techno and bohemian frills.
Tassels and ruffles and ruching were seen throughout the show, which was true to the
designer's style of maximum embellishment.
Bolero jackets in gray and black velvet were worn over long dresses in an array of colors
from black and light blue to deep red and mauve.
The show also featured intricately laced blouses paired with leather and organza skirts,
sparkling tweeds, graffitied shearling coats, leather bomber jackets and full-skirted gowns.
Rich pieces with fur, meticulously placed sequins, abstract patterns, and lots of lace were
all true to the Lacroix spirit.
This collection, though, was more subtle than his usual, as Lacroix moved in a direction that
was less royal and more gypsy.
The Lacroix lady still attends the opera and passes through the Comedie Francaise from time
to time, but she is also eager to hit the club scene afterwards.
Although the clothes seen Sunday were lavishly beautiful at times, it was hard to imagine
any of the looks becoming the next big trend.
Yet it was pure Lacroix.
