PARIS, Oct 7, 2005/ FW/ --- Beautiful, bright and colorful, Christian Lacroix’s Spring / Summer 2006 collection reflected the optimism and buoyancy that the French couturier feels as he embarks a new path for his label.

His collaboration with Pucci over, the last vestige of his connection with LVMH, Lacroix can now fully concentrate on the development and expansion of his eponymous label, the first being the opening of the first ever Christian Lacroix free-standing boutique in Las Vegas this November.

That said, it was not surprising that the Paris-based designer opted for a more streetwise and toned-down silhouettes that is geared towards the American public.

The opening piece – a loose-fitting bright red trench coat, with a bias cut skirt accented at the waist with a big bow, the hemline ending in tiny ruffles; the French tailoring was definitely there, yet Americans in both coasts, including the Midwest can relate to.

Strapless sundresses in Lacroix’s original print, sleeveless tank dresses paired with soft fitting jacket, deep V-necklines on halter-neck blouson frocks and loose-fitting pantsuit sets all bear Lacroix’s signature style that his devotees love, but this time within reach of even the most casual fashionista.

Flat pumps, kitten-heel shoes, totes and handbags will sell like hotcakes when they hit store shelves.

Riveted bomber jackets and the famous Christian Lacroix embroidery will definitely bring the label nearer to the hearts of the well-heeled clientele of Las Vegas.

Entitled ‘Escapade,’ which by the way is very apt, though another title can also apply, ‘Vive le France, Viva Las Vegas.’
