New York, Oct 25, 2001/ FWD/ --- You can depend on Christina Perrin for a splash of color and some curve and sparkle -
after all, she designs for the red carpet crowd. Charlize Theron and Leelee Sobieski are
only a couple of the actresses who have stayed off Joan Rivers' fashion faux pas list by
wearing a Perrin.
Her pass at spring 2002 is a little different, though - Perrin designed this collection for
herself, not for an awards ceremony.
"I designed the collection with what I needed in my closet in mind. It's the first time I've
done that," she told FWD backstage at The Roxy in New York.
"There are a lot of day-to-evening looks, and of course many for cocktails," she said. "I
first conceived the collection while on a plane looking at the landscape of Pennsylvania. I
saw these great earth shades of green and tan and then noticed the sky colors: blues, whites,
oranges and yellows."
Chiffon and tulle bustier evening dresses in varying shades of green were stunningly shapely
and sexy, as were the sunrise beaded gowns. Perfect for a Saturday night on the tiles through
to brunch the next day were white, wide-sleeve chiffon blouses with floral crystal detailing.
Distressed leather trenches in white and orange were hip and fit perfectly. Downtown denim
looks, cut hard and sexy, had Christina Perrin logo rivets and raw stitching.
As for accessories, wide leather weightlifter belts, dotted with multi-colored gems, could be
slung low over jeans for a casual look or used to cinch a glam gown for an upscale affair.
