London Fashion Week Fall 2004
Clements Ribiero: Fun & Fabulous
By Michelle Taylor
LONDON, Feb 20, 2004/ FW/ --- Fun and fabulous like something out of a mad woman’s diary in the 1920’s, the husband and wife team of Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro made the London catwalk shine in a series of smiles and sweet temptation of the eccentric earlier last week.
Fur loving and colourful, heavily eye shadowed, mad hattering and layered, their fall winter 2004/05 collection was a hit with animal prints even on shoes and a tigers face roaring on a bright red sweater to open the show.
Lace and fabric appliqué designs danced on overcoats and little knee length dresses, sexy in that estranged feminine way.
Not forgetting their roots, knitwear was a strong element, cardigans and sweaters varied in style and design, one particular highlight is the white skeleton on black, bold and unique.
Nostalgic and at times graphical Clements Ribiero’s designs and cuts, like wrap around dresses, polka dot prints, plunging V’s and gorgeous double-breasted overcoats with fur lined collars.
Welcome to the city circus, where the metropolis is the real jungle and city girls are looking for constant new encounters, fun and good times, stimulation of the extreme and strange in a rush of emotions. The fashions of these two are the perfect for this way of thinking.
Multi coloured, multi influenced and multi emotional, a successful collection that demonstrates the true expression of the London catwalks. The duo will be seen again on the catwalks of Paris in just a little over ten days for the showing of Cacharel.
