Nov 11, 2001/ FW/ --- Clements Ribeiro clothes are sharp, sleek and gorgeous.
One thing you can say about husband and wife design team Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro is
that they bring the word "eclectic" to a brand new level.
First, they reinvented the stripes for their Spring 2001 collection by mixing it with either checks
or paisley print. Then, they created elegantly draped dresses Greco-style. Last, they went geometric -
using circles and dots and Vichy squares. The effect - glamour with a touch of romance, Y2K style.
Their Spring 2001 collection also had a 1980s influence, though you almost cannot see it, except
for the big belts in leather with metal pins. It blended well with the geometrical and assymetrical
cuts, no shoulder and dresses with gatherings in strange places.
Though they used very strong colors of green and orange-yellow, it was tempered down by the paisley
prints and loose fabrics like silk which was part of the collection.
Eclectic yes! And two-thumbs up for glamour.
