Jan 2, 2002/ FW/ -- One trend that was very prevalent during the Spring 2002 fashion
weeks from New York to Paris was the Americana theme, from Native American to Main Street
America.
Husband and wife design team Inacio Ribeiro and Suzanne Clements decided to visit the
American wild west in their interpretaion of how a glamourous squaw would look like.
And I like it!
Fusing Native American costume with modern elements, Clements Ribeiro came with a clever
collection of daywear.
From fringes and beads to the lovely moccassins worn by the models, I can see this
being worn by both the uptown and crowd. Some pieces can be picked up by the club-going
set. Most of all, some of the clothes could even be worn for work!
This collection shows the wide range of Clements Ribeiro's creativity! They were scheduled
to show in London, but cancelled at the last minute due to the terrorist attack in New York
last September 11.
I am glad that they decided to show in Paris. This collection is too beautiful for just the
look book.
