Custo Barcelona NEW YORK, Feb 14, 2004/ FW/ --- Custo Dalmau who is known for his use of exuberant colors did something unexpected this season. He used black as his main color palette. The result – a more sophisticated look in Custo Barcelona’s very popular and sought looks.

Inspired by the heydays of Studio 54 and the sexy Bond girls of the 007 series, Custo Barcelona’s flared, swirling mini-skirts, après-ski short fur coats, baby parkas and bold leggings are testament to the label’s growth from T-shirts to more sophisticated grown up looks.

Short of being redundant, the choice of black gave the whole collection a very cosmopolitan feel especially with the subdued use of graphical designs.

But if you’re thinking that Custo Dalmau has forgotten his roots, erase that thought from your mind.

There are enough shirts, blouses and sweaters showing his wacky designs in vivid colors.

The men’s collection also took the same turn as the women’s collection – more sophisticated, more grown up with an evening and sporty feel to them.

It seems that this season, Custo Dalmau decided that less is more.
