NEW YORK, Feb 13, 2006/ FW/ --- Fun and Victorian are two words that are not traditionally combined. Somehow Custo Barcelona gave us just that in his Autumn/Winter 2006-2007 collection.
Velvet and Jacquards ripped the runway with excitement in the air. A mixture of colors and fabrics and oversized Victorian collars were vital in the dating of the collection. Satin bows added that extra sparkle on coats in splashed of sporadic colors.
Bottoms were a mixture of pumpkin pants in different lengths. Bustles were imagery seen on the back of many tailored coats and a few skirts. Ruffle hems made other skirts more fun and full of fantasy.
Large beaded clutches were highlighted accessories. Together with the bright knee-high socks and leggings, plus the adorable shoes, a woman has a lot to choose from to dress up for fall.
Men’s clothing was overlooked though, and presented with simple hoodies and cargo trousers. A few male argyle shirts gained minor glimpses in dark rustic colors.
As more female models made their way down the catwalk, evening looks were more embellished with shiny finishes and topped with a few faux fur frocks.
Custo always seem to add that extra sparkle into his collections and shows from the music selection to his amazing usage of color.
