LOS ANGELES, Oct 26, 2004/ FW/ --- Custo Dalmau brought his magic in Los Angeles and turned the heat on during a cool autumn day at Smashbox Studios today.
A consummate traveler, Custo Dalmau has never forgotten the roots of his fashion empire, a trip around the world in a motorcycle with his brother David during the 1980s that gave them inspiration to design fascinating t-shirts that made them famous.
So, for Spring 2005, Custo Dalmau paid tribute to those far away destinations and to the cultured travelers that visit them, creating memories that are juxtaposed in color prints and graphics that are dynamic and full of life.
Never resting on his laurels, this collection is a departure from the bold colors and patterns that made the Custo Barcelona famous.
Instead, satin finishes, metallic fabrics and a muted color palette of soft pink, blue, green and white shape the collection and redefine the Custo Style for men and women alike.
“We’re always developing new lines and new products,” explained the designer backstage after the show. “I like moving forward,” he added.
Stagnation is something that one can NEVER accuse Custo Dalmau and the Custo Barcelona brand. In Paris, where they already have 3 freestanding boutiques, a fourth one will be opening next month at Rue St. Honoré, the equivalent of Los Angeles’ Rodeo Drive in Paris.
And for his Spring 2005 collection, expect it to fly off the shelves come springtime because it would be hard to resist those snug fitting jackets, low rise pants, tops that are designed like windbreakers and those tiny bikinis with blue studs.
