DALLAS, Apr 18, 2007 / FW --- What began as a road trip by two brothers during the 1980s has turned into a global fashion empire based on a unique vision of different cultures around the world.
Custo Barcelona, which just opened its first store in Switzerland last February in the glamorous ski station of Crans-Montana, has carved its own niche in high fashion wherein everything is possible, and is only limited by your imagination.
Custo Dalmau, since the inception of the label has been true to the design philosophy of Custo Barcelona, getting inspiration from all over the globe and then recreating it in prints in his own vision.
Never part of the trend, but rather, creating its own look, Custo Barcelona has remained inimitable for the past two decades and for Fall 2007, Dalmau’s vision includes juxtaposition of prints and solids, prints on prints and solids on solids with references on Spain’s colonial past.
Bloomer shorts in velvet, similar to the Spanish conquistadores uniforms, skirts that are layered like body armor and bare-shouldered cocktail dresses evocative of the Spanish knights, Dalmau did not leave his native land to create this high-energy collection.
The silhouette is slim for both men and women, but Dalmau bulked it up with layering. Tights and hose were proposed for women to protect their legs from the cold and usually worn with mini skirts or frocks with asymmetrical hemlines.
For women, trousers are wide legged and the waist was emphasized with narrow belts. For men, prints and checks were the fabric of choice for straight leg trousers that were slim but do not constrict movement.
Trench coats and bombers are the suggested outerwear while big tote bags and beanies with big bands are the preferred accessories.
With its new store in Switzerland, don’t be surprised to see both men and women wearing something from this collection on their après ski.
