DALLAS, Mar 12, 2005/ FW/ --- With net profits up 53% for 2004, it is more than enough reason to celebrate at Dior. And, with John Galliano’s very wearable collection shown last week in Paris, the company is well poised to break the record.
Continuing the sobriety thread that he started last October during the Spring 2005 season, the British-born designer once again opted for a classical runway show sending very commercially viable silhouettes on the catwalk.
Beginning with the black & white stripe mohair culottes all the way to the body hugging embroidered gray gown that could easily have been chosen for the Academy Awards red carpet, everything is guaranteed to bring brisk business at Dior.
For the romantic Dior look, there is the hobble skirt inspired top in old rose paired with pencil cut pants in leather.
From velvet to suede, alligator skin to leather, and mink to shearling, it is about luxury as always for the venerable fashion house.
Must have from the accessories shown is the alligator skin tote with the CD logo. It comes with outside pockets for PDA, cell phones and iPod; even space for extra shoes or a set of overnight clothes.
As the financial report said, “The new womenswear ready to wear collections and the new ranges of handbags and shoes created by John Galliano have met a very large success worldwide.”
Looking at this collection, it is easy to see the reason why.
