NEW YORK, Feb 19, 2002/ FW/ --- When you're hot, you're hot!
After a very successful menswear presentation during the first day of fashion week,
Douglas Hannant presented his womenswear collection at Bryant Park last Tuesday.
The slim silhouette that he used for menswear was echoed in his womenswear collection,
with a very pleasant twist.
Douglas Hannant's womenswear is intriguing, feminine, and full of old style glamour.
Fabrics that were luxurious and soft-to-the-touch like lambskin, cashmere, and mohair
prevailed in shades of almond, ivory, and nutmeg.
Delicate hand-embroidered florals accented jackets, trousers, and dresses.
Ankle length coats and maxi shirts added drama to the presentation.
The designer also showed knickers, and lots of them, which is turning out to be big
news for fall.
But it was the evening wear that really showed what Douglas Hannant could do.
His jersey dresses came ruched and sleeveless, with plunging necklines, and with flowing
batwing sleeves.
The elegance and sophistication of these pieces makes them more than red-carpet worthy.
Oscars, anyone?
