NEW YORK, Feb 1, 2007 / FW - Tonight at Gotham Hall, Douglas Hannant celebrated his 10th year in fashion at Gotham Hall, previewing a very sophisticated and sexy collection that sums up the reasons of his longevity in fashion.
As it had been said before here, Douglas Hannant has a special place here at FashionWindows because of his background as a Visual Merchandiser. He was a Display Director for various companies before he launched his first ready-to-wear line in the fall of 1996. Ten years hence, here we are witnessing his success as a fashion designer.
A favorite of the 5th Avenue fashion crowd and socialites, Douglas Hannant's refined and polished Fall 2007 collection borders between sexy and sensual. With models wearing their hair in a chignon and black hose as a must-have accessory, every outfit is eveningwear.
Cocktail dresses, gowns worthy of the red carpet and fringed mini-dresses reminiscent of the 1920s flappers, there is a reference to haute couture in the lace overlays, bows & ribbons, ruffles and ostrich feathers that were added as embellishments.
Though this show is very far from being a retrospective of Douglas Hannant’s 10 years of fashion, it also presents a definitive embodiment of his work and shows his maturity as a designer.
Hence, when the designer took his bow, there was a resounding applause from the audience; Douglas Hannant was all smiles because from the positive response at Gotham Hall, he also knows that he sent out another winner for Fall 2007.
