DALLAS, Dec 15, 2006/ FW/ --- The tents at Bryant Park will have another stellar name on its roster with an announcement for Diane von Furstenberg that she will preview her Fall 2006 collection at the official venue for Olympus Fashion Week instead of showing at her studio, as her been practice for a long time.
The Daily, official publication of 7th on Sixth, producers of Olympic Fashion Week, reported that the ‘decision was precipitated by the accident that befell her fashion show this past September – when part of a lighting structure collapsed, striking several guests.’
“That really made it happen,” von Furstenberg told the Daily, in an interview, coming off the heels of the unfortunate event. “It was already getting tight [in there], and I was so upset with what happened. There was no question [about moving the show].”
The accident was truly an unfortunate event because it was the one that made the headlines instead of the show, which by the way was ‘all about Mediterranean elegance’ and entitled, ‘La Dolce Diva,’ an obvious take on diva dressing!
With bright prints in polka dots, basket weaves, stripes and graphical elements, it was the elegance of the 1960s revisited, with the young debutantes of today in mind.
Standouts include an all white floor length summer frock with a keyhole neckline made to look like a necklace. Accessorized with sunglasses and big totes, a girl simply cannot go wrong while spending time in sunny places from Hawaii, to the Bahamas and of course the Mediterranean.
Yet, as the saying goes, ‘there is a silver lining behind every cloud,’ the accident might be very unfortunate, yet Diane von Furstenberg’s move to Bryant Park cannot come in a better time.
A company that is expanding globally and with collaborations with others such as Reebok for RBK by Diane von Furstenberg, the additional seats available at Bryant Park more than doubles the 440 seat-capacity of her studio.
That means at least double the exposure for her preview.
