Feb 26, 2002/FW/ --- Ghost's Autumn/ Winter '02 collection was inspired by "Dickensian
Streetlife" and shown in an intimate presentation at a quaint townhouse
on Portland Place in London.
Sullen models icily walked down a wooden staircase in groupings entitled "The Urchins",
"The Pickpockets", and "The Magpies".
Satin and georgette skirts and dresses in pastel shades were ragged and fringed, creating
a deconstructed feeling.
The early-1900's met 2002 in the form of Edwardian-style jackets, velvet
trimmings, and quilted coats.
Although most of the show was monochromatic, there were a couple of fun prints, like the
embroidered bow-ties and metallic charm bracelette pattern.
Colors shifted from pastels to golds and browns by midshow and then later adding on black
and navy eveningwear with silver chains and rhinestones dangling from the edges.
Most ensembles were paired with heavy brown shoes and knit skull caps, a mixed metaphor that
played on the poor street waif theme throughout the show.
