MILAN, Feb 21, 2005/ FW/ --- After his years in fashion, Giorgio Armani continues to amaze his fans and audience, such as today when he presented a very flirtatious and coquettish Emporio Armani Fall 2005 collection wherein instead of his signature linear and geometric silhouettes, he opted for a more curvy and playful look that is strikingly gorgeous.
Sending mostly skirts displaying long lithe legs of the models, the Italian design maestro revisited the 1930s glamour scene with fringes, asymmetrical hemlines, electric pleats, gores and godets, even a bias cut in the skirts.
It has a silver screen goddess feel to it, especially with the turbans and berets, but don’t think Greta Garbo or Marlene Dietrich. Think more of sultry Angelina Jolie, sweet Jennifer Aniston and classy Gwyneth Paltrow.
To say that Giorgio Armani is a design genius is a statement of fact; to say that he has his fingers on the pulse of the changing demographics proves that he is also a marketing genius that even Madison Avenue will be proud.
As discussed by CBS’ 60 Minutes, the Echo Boomers, defined as the children of Baby Boomers, is the new economic force in the U.S. Described as the ‘most watched and cared for American generation,’ the Echo Boomers also bridge the generation gap, wherein 9 out of 10 of them say that either their mother or father is their best friend.
And Giorgio Armani’s gift to them… the Emporio Armani Fall 2005 collection, the same label that their parents wear, but with a different silhouette to emphasize their youth and playfulness!
The Echo Boomers being of college age and in their early twenties will definitely appreciate this fresh look of Emporio Armani – modern & contemporary yet rooted in the past.
