MILAN, Jan 20, 2005/ FW/ --- Giorgio Armani is taking a step back from street style and casual active wear as he brings his secondary line, Emporio Armani closer to the tailoring genius of the main collection in new found elegance and precision for autumn winter 2005/06.
Pinstripe blues become Hollywood jazz in sophisticated single buttoned jackets and flat fronted trousers that streamline the silhouette, accenting the upper body by shortening lengths and slimming down legs.
Fabulous jackets are the key to this Emporio collection, whether they be tailored in glimmering satin, the finest velvet or made of the softest leather, double breasted or patterned with geometrical shapes, shoulders take on new importance and the torso defined.
Velvet is this seasons fabric choice as denim takes a step back, appearing only as jeans and rarely at that, while velvet instead glistens in the moonlight for evenings or in the day under mountain sun making up entire jackets or used as the feature on imposing lapels.
Though while Armani has genially shifted Emporio to a new realm, there are hints of the casual as he maintains just the right amount of distance from big brother Giorgio Armani. Lace up mountain boot style sneakers are worn with almost everything from tailored trousers to jeans, and knitwear is placed under day suits.
Romantic, suave and chic, the new Emporio man is cozy with the right mix of playboy cum softie in faux fur worn over velvet jackets, on collars and as complete coats for a play on extravagance and eccentricity. Armani also hints at ethnicity through Asian style closures on jackets and shirts for spicy nights of mystery.
Whether night or day, Emporio Armani ‘dances to a new tune’ and ‘tells a new tale’, this is only the beginning of what is destined to be the beginning of a beautiful and long friendship as today’s man discovers the gift of sophistication.
